Preview: Economic Changes

     Developments in inventions subtly divided the two sides as well. An increase in the ability for people to communicate also contributed. The members of the South had more use for canals than roads and railroads, and they were against the construction of said structures around their plantation areas. In the South, the cotton gin, invented by Eli Whitney, greatly influenced the South, as more production of cotton would be allowed for.
